The monograph in English fully shows the importance of the topic undertaken, which is related to the inevitable, but now also very fast pace of population aging, and not only in Poland. This tendency somehow forces the perception of older people as a social group with increased needs. The authors showed that both Polish and European law address this issue, and legislators strive to regulate the legal situation of seniors. It was pointed out that when creating regulations on legal protection guarantees for the elderly, it should be remembered that they enjoy dignity and are valuable, experienced participants in social life who want to work, develop and contribute a lot to society.

The publication indicates the material and procedural aspects of legal protection of the elderly. The most important issues of this protection were raised – education, culture and health, and above all it was shown that older people deserve special protection on the basis of the Polish Constitution of 1997. In addition, the procedural rules allowing the protection of the legal interests of seniors in conditions of residence outside the country of which they are nationals were reviewed was reviewed. Reference was made to the most important issues from the point of view of both the elderly and the whole society, which in practice pose the greatest difficulties in their implementation and give room for drawing conclusions de lege ferenda, which are not lacking in the study.

The studies that make up the reviewed collective work form  a certain whole, built on a common leitmotif. Most of the texts were prepared in accordance with the canons of legal sciences. The argument contained in them is characterized by high scientific quality (which, inter alia, consists of a critical aspect of the legal status and current practice) and is cognitively rich. Nevertheless, in several places the way of approaching the issues appropriate for sociology or political science comes to the fore.
